DO YOU TRULY LOVE GOD?

Many people claim to love God, but do they? What does the Bible say?

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, IF a man love me, HE WILL keep my words ...

John 14:15 IF ye love me, KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS.

1 John 5:3 For THIS IS the love of God, that we KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS: and his commandments are not grievous.

The Bible says that those who TRULY love God will keep His commandments. No believer is able to keep all of God’s commandments perfectly, but a true believer will make a practice of obeying God and doing what He says. That is what these verses are talking about.

I have run into many professing Christians over the years who claim to love God. Many of them will even cry when they tell you how much they love Jesus. But when you tell them what the Bible says about something, they will reject it and believe and/or do whatever they want. They are not interested in keeping God’s commandments unless they happen to be something they wanted to do anyway.

According to God Himself, these people DO NOT LOVE GOD regardless of what they profess. These people are NOT worshipping the true God of the Bible but rather a false god of of their own making. Their “god” does not require them to accept what the Bible says as true, nor does he expect them to keep his commandments.

Here are other verses which apply as well.

Joh 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

Phil. 3:18-19 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, WHOSE GOD IS THEIR BELLY, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

Titus 1:15-16 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and UNBELIEVING is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They PROFESS that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and DISOBEDIENT, and unto every good work reprobate.

1 John 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
